Status: On Hold

Indus Net Foundation, in collaboration with Krishworks, has launched Read Learn for bridging the skills gap among the young population in India. With a large number of first-generation learners and poor attendance in government schools, the project aims to provide a sound and activity-based pedagogy of learning for students at Karimpur Girls High School in Nadia. The program focuses on developing English language skills and providing training for teachers to cater to every type of student in the digital classroom.

The project aims to promote growth for both children and teachers collaboratively, with a focus on soft skill development, curriculum training, and creating leaders for tomorrow. The program incorporates group activities, language drills, audio-visuals for lessons, chain activities, and role-plays to make learning fun and engaging for students. The training is imparted through online and offline mechanisms to provide comprehensive training for all stakeholders involved. The ultimate goal is to provide access to a library membership and equip students with the tools to learn independently, enabling them to realize their potential and become leaders in their communities.

Impact

The project has had a significant impact on young students in India. Over 200 students out of 500 in government schools do not attend regularly, leading to poor performance and a skill gap. However, with the implementation of Read Learn, attendance rates have increased, and students are benefiting from a sound and activity-based pedagogy of learning.

The program has enhanced language and communication skills, with a focus on English language learning, and has helped students develop soft skills, leadership qualities, and teamwork.

Additionally, the project has provided comprehensive training for teachers on curriculum and soft skills, equipping them to cater to every type of student in the digital classroom.

As a result, students are now able to access libraries, dictionaries, and online resources to learn independently. This has created a more educated and informed population, empowering young leaders who are well-equipped to navigate the challenges of the present. The impact of this project is far-reaching, as it not only benefits individual students but also strengthens communities by creating a more skilled and educated workforce.
